This hat was intentionally distressed to represent an old fedora that had been worn and loved for many years. The necktie that was used was not cut so that the tie could be taken off and worn. The brooch and earrings, as well, were not altered in any way. They are almost 100 years old and are in incredible condition for their age. The brooch and earrings were attached so that they could be taken off of the hat and worn in other ways. The purple fabric on the brim and crown was taken from the lining of his suit. The XO on the crown were actually copied from the shaky handwritten XO that my grandma wrote in her last card to my grandpa. Every part of the hat represents something from their beautiful relationship.
